Happy Youth Week!

Youth Week is a provincial celebration of youth held annually during the first week of May. Born in 1995, it began as a celebration across a small number of municipalities. These municipalities would launch new initiatives that promoted partnerships and collaboration between youth, adults, businesses, government, schools, and the media with a common goal of celebrating youth.

Now more than fifteen years later, Youth Week is an international celebration of youth. It is a week of fun and celebration intended to foster strong connections between youth and their communities, spread awareness of youth, and give people the opportunity to profile and learn about the issues, accomplishments and diversity of youth in their communities, province, nation and world.
From May 1st to 7th, youth across BC will participate in activities organized by youth for youth all while celebrating their strengths, diversity, uniqueness and positive contributions to their communities. Its mission is not unlike that of the Catching the Spirit (CTS) Program and those of you who are familiar with CTS know just how much those youth can accomplish!
Without youth, our regional parks system simply would not be what it is today, and it is for youth and future generations that we will continue to conserve, preserve and enhance it.
Take this week to recognize and thank youth in your own way and/or create an opportunity to further their growth.
