  1. Stay Fit and Healthy

Spending time in nature makes us feel better. We know that intuitively. Scientists are regularly reporting on the myriad benefits to our physical and mental health of spending time outdoors. Health benefits include stress relief, improved concentration, increased short-term memory, greater creativity, and a healthier immune system.

 

  1. Lose Weight

Skip expensive gym memberships and just head outdoors to hike the trails in one of our 23 regional parks. If you want a hard-core workout, there’s the famous Grouse Grind, or if you prefer a more level field to play on, why not explore the 73 km of walking trails in Pacific Spirit Regional Park. Visit Our Parks page and see the many options you have.

 

  1. Enjoy Life to the Fullest

It’s official. Parks make us happy. An 18-year scientific study with 10,000 participants indicates that people are happier when living in urban areas with greater amounts of green space. So get out there and enjoy our beautiful parks in 2017.

 

  1. Spend Less, Save More

Parks are free! And so is Metro Vancouver’s Check It Out events list.

 

  1. Spend More Time with Family and Friends

Biking, hiking, picnics, camping, hanging out at the beach, fishing – there’s lots of opportunities to spend quality time with family and friends in our parks.

Sorry, this resolution to visit our parks won’t help you get your closet organized or your sock drawer tidier, but if you sign up to visit our 23 regional parks in 2017, we can give you some great tools to organize your park visits and year-round fun activities.

  1. Learn Something New/New Hobby

By visiting Metro Vancouver’s regional parks you have lots of opportunities to learn new things and explore new hobbies. Take a guided bird walk at Boundary Bay, practice your fishing at Derby Reach Regional Park, learn about salmon at Kanaka Creek Regional Park. Because this year is the 50th Anniversary of Metro Vancouver’s regional parks, there will be hundreds of special activities throughout the year.

  1. Travel More

Why travel across the world when you can have a low-cost “staycation” right here? There’s so much to see right here on your doorstep. The Lower Mainland of British Columbia is one of the post popular places to visit in North America, but have you enjoyed all that it has to offer? Our parks are a big part of what makes Metro Vancouver one of the most loved tourist destinations.
