The George Ross Legacy Stewardship Program is a funding program created to help support hands‐on
citizen stewardship activities by park partners in Metro Vancouver regional parks and greenways. The
Program is funded by the interest from an endowment created from the generous $2.8 million bequest
from Mr. George Ross, who loved trees and parks. This program is administered by the Pacific Parklands
Foundation, a non-profit society established to support and enhance Metro Vancouver’s regional parks
Regional park partners and non-profit organizations with current agreements with Metro Vancouver, and non-profit societies and community groups that are active in Metro Vancouver regional parks and greenways.
There are 7 park associations: Burnaby Lake Park Association; Boundary Bay Park Association; Colony Farm Park Association; Derby Reach/Brae Island Parks Association; Kanaka Education and Environmental Partnership Society; Minnekhada Park Association; and Pacific Spirit Park Society.
Before completing the application, all project proposals must be pre-screened by Metro Vancouver Regional Parks staff.

There will be two grant cycles in 2020, in the spring and fall, for both Large and Medium Grants.
Large grants: Projects must be completed within 2 years of award
Medium grants: Projects must be completed within 1 year of award
Successful applicants will be expected to submit a final report, including an expense report with receipts proving the expenditure of the total funds. A report template will be provided.
Project representatives are expected to attend Metro Vancouver’s annual Fall Parksfest event on the first Saturday of November or other Metro Vancouver events and may be asked to share their project story with other attendees.
All advertising, communication, and promotional material for your project should acknowledge the contribution of Pacific Parklands Foundation and Metro Vancouver Regional Parks. Logos will be provided.
