Many Metro Vancouver locals depend on its public transit system every day, whether it be for their commute to work or just an easy way to travel about the busy cities. It is also a great way for visitors to travel given that the City of Vancouver is a prime destination. Translink is in the process of recreating its system to be more innovative and efficient, Compass will be up and running in late 2013. This modern card is durable, reloadable and works everywhere on transit in Metro Vancouver. They have various compass pass cards suitable for frequent customers or the occasional rider.
How to Use?
Transit riders will simply “tap in” when entering a station or bus and “tap out” when leaving. When taping in, the system automatically reserves the fare for three zones and then calculates the appropriate traveled fare zones when you tap out.
Compass equipment is already being installed at stations but like any new system it needs to be tested. That is where you get to participate! Translink is looking for Compass testers to test their system to make sure its working properly. Sounds like a sweet gig to me!
