DIY for the Holidays
As hard as I tried to wait until December 1st to start prepping for the holiday season, I have decided that since Remembrance Day has come and gone, it might not be such a terrible idea to get an early start.
Besides, it is really a late start if you consider that the mall has been decked out for the holidays since Halloween.
Also, an early start means more time and more time means more opportunity to test out some of the DIY (do-it-yourself) projects I have been aching to try!
Follow Pacific Parklands Foundation on Pinterest to see what some of these projects are and uncover some ideas of your own. Our “DIY and Upcycling” and “Winter Holidays 2013” boards will be of particular interest to those of you who love to craft and/or bake or simply want to try something new this holiday season!
As an added challenge, do your best to upcycle as you complete your DIY projects. If you have old toys, necklace pendants, boxes, bottles, dishes, craft supplies, etc. laying around then try to find a creative way to reuse them for gifts or decorations. Get together with a friend or friends, pool your findings together and upcycle for greener giving without even taking a trip to the mall.
Oh and skip the wrapping paper and tape – there are so many cool (and beautiful) ideas out there for eco-wrapping!
Submit your DIY projects (decorations, gifts, wrapping, holiday baking) to caitlin@pacificparklands.com and you could be featured on our blog.
Happy Crafting!
