Are you or someone you know looking to volunteer?
The Pacific Parklands Foundation is currently recruiting approximately 50 volunteers to help with the Fort Langley Half Marathon on Sunday, February 19th. Volunteers are needed to assist with the following roles:
– Route Marshals (17);
– Water stations (16 total – there are four stations that require a minimum of 4 people each to handle the crowd size);
– Chip removers (5);
– Back-up timer (1);
– Medal Presenters (5);
– Garbage/Food Area (2); and
– Parking lot attendants during the start of the race (2).
The race is scheduled to start at 8 am. Thus, PPF is requesting that all volunteers arrive at 7 am and meet at the starting point(the Fort) for orientation. This will allow time to have all marshals and water station attendants in place by 7:30 am.
Volunteers are asked to dress warmly and will be required to wear a reflective vest.
Further details will be provided with regard to parking (for those that drive their cars) and transportation to and from the event (for those that are using public transportation or are requiring a ride) closer to the event date. The route will be closed at 12:30 and it is expected that volunteers will be finished by 1:00 pm.
The Pacific Parklands Foundation is the benefiting charity from this event and funds raised will support the conservation and preservation of Metro Vancouver’s regional parks.
