Pacific Parklands Foundation Hatchery Hub Kanaka Creek Watershed Stewardship Centre

Hatchery Hub – Kanaka Creek Watershed Stewardship Centre

Thanks to a generous legacy gift by George Ross, a centre to teach visitors about fish, forests, and nature is now a reality. The Kanaka Creek Watershed Stewardship Centre is a community hub and at its core is the Bell-Irving Fish Hatchery.

This special campus is a model of watershed stewardship, environmental sustainability, education, outreach, and grassroots engagement. Located in Kanaka Creek Regional Park in Maple Ridge, the Centre was opened in 2016. Each year 10,000 visitors plus students from around Metro Vancouver visit the hatchery to learn about the life-cycle of the salmon and the environment needed to sustain them.
