Water is a valuable resource, key to our survival. However, not many people realize how much water they use on a daily basis.  When it comes to caring for our plants and gardens we tend to think water is unlimited when in reality, we must be even more cautious of our water use during the hot and dry periods like summer. We can all take simple steps in conserving water and re-using it in strategic ways.

1.       Collect water inside the house
2.       Water at the right time (check with your municipality)
3.       Employ soaker hoses, self-watering containers or globes
4.       Mulch, mulch, mulch
5.       Harvest rainwater
Being cautious of your water usage is easier than you think. Stop yourself before pouring your extra water down the sink and instead pour it on your garden. When there is a rainfall, harvest the water to use for plants later. Follow the above 5 steps to be more water-wise!
