One of our main objectives this summer has been to increase public outreach. It’s important that Lower Mainland residents recognize Pacific Parklands Foundation as the fundraising arm of Metro Vancouver Regional Parks. We often meet donors who have been looking to support regional park initiatives but were unaware of our existence. That’s where outreach comes in!
Over the past few months we’ve interacted with over 900 regional park visitors, received 300 new email subscribers, and raised $1,271 from outreach alone. Why are we telling you this? Our outreach experience has highlighted one very important thing- the importance of YOU, our park champions.
Whether you’re a hiker, a birder, a paddler or a park reader, your support and interest in regional parks keeps us moving forward and inspires us to do more. It is people like you, our supporters and generous donors, that drive many of the conservation and enhancement efforts in regional parks.
At the beginning of July we met a very inspiring parks enthusiast named Myrna (pictured right). We talked to Myrna for about 15 minutes, discussing various trips to regional parks and commenting on our favourite spots. People like Myrna are why we love supporting regional parks and why we strive to exceed our fundraising goals each year. Thank you Myrna, and all regional parks supporters, for reminding us of our vision and inspiring us to do more!
