Preparing for Parksfest 2012
Parksfest is an annual event that brings together environmental experts and community groups for a day of workshops and presentations in recognition of the outstanding contributions and commitments made by park volunteers and staff.
Given 2012 is the International Year of Cooperatives, this year’s Parksfest program will adopt the theme –Natural Capital: Sharing the Wealth. Our regional parks play a significant role in our physical, mental and spiritual health and wellbeing but the benefits nature provides are also valuable in monetary terms. Assessing ecosystems in economic terms allows decision makers and the public to appreciate the true cost of degrading out ecosystems, and, conversely, the potential economic benefits of protecting and restoring the region’s wealth of natural capital.
Pacific Parklands Foundation is once again pleased to support Metro Vancouver Regional Parks in securing donations from local businesses in support of Parksfest 2012, to be held on November 3, 2012 in Burnaby.
