Recently, I have been busy trying to secure sponsorship for an adventure of my own…
From August 2-26, 2012, I will be participating in the Rivershed Society of BC’s Sustainable Living Leadership Program. As part of the program, I will travel 1,400 km down the Fraser River by canoe, raft, shuttle van, and on foot passing through ten of BC’s fourteen biogeoclimatic zones. I will study watersheds, salmon, resources management and learn how to lower my ecological footprint.
For three weeks, I will be disconnected from technology. I will engage with peers, facilitators and an extensive network of First Nation and Non-Native community leaders. Through team building, conflict resolution, communication and critical thinking, I will emerge a stronger environmental leader as a result of this program.
However, my participation in this program would not be possible if it were not for our wonderful Executive Director, Denise Coutts, allowing me to take the necessary 3 weeks off. Due to this generousity, I will come back to work at Pacific Parklands Foundation reinspired and with renewed energy.
