Do you know a budding environmentalist with a penchant for volunteerism and stewardship? If so, we’d like to hear from you! Another year has flown by and we’re now accepting nominations for the 2018 Gordon Smith Youth Environmental Stewardship Award.
Who was Gordon Smith?
Gordon Smith was an active community member with a passion for stream and wetland conservation. As a strong proponent of environmental stewardship, it’s no surprise that he spent most of his time working on local conservation projects.
After he passed away in 2001, his friends and colleagues created an endowment fund to continue his legacy. Today, this fund has provided over $7,500 in bursaries and continues to recognize outstanding youth each year.
About the Award
Every year we call for nominations for the Gordon Smith Youth Environmental Stewardship Award. The purpose of the award is to recognize the work of young environmentalists who are making a difference in the field of conservation and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps. Successful candidates receive a $500 bursary to support future studies in an environmental field.
