Metro Vancouver may not have seen a white Christmas but according to Environment Canada, we can expect to see this snowfall continue for the duration of the week.
While Translink has stated that the snow has caused no interference thus far, as long as the snowfall continues it is wise to plan on leaving a little earlier than normal and to monitor the bus and sky train schedules to ensure they are running without delay.
Before venturing outside please ensure you are wearing extra layers in case of delays. Throw a scarf and mittens into your bag even if you are not sure you will need them and do not head outside without the proper footwear. Consider changing your shoes at work or school and wear footwear with better gripping when outside as many areas are quite icy.
Finally, please ensure you take the time to shovel the sidewalk in front of your house. This will ensure nobody ends up walking on the road to avoid the snow. If you have elderly neighbours, neighbours busy with young children or neighbours you know could just use an extra hand then be neighbourly and shovel in front of their property as well.
Most importantly, be careful and enjoy the winter wonderland!
