GETTING PAST THE CAR PARK
Getting past the car park can be the first step in exploring nature and our beautiful regional parks. But if you literally can’t make that step, then you can’t enjoy these special places.
“One of the things we haven’t been able to do too much of as a family is go into the forest,” says Randy Schmidt, whose young daughter is in a wheelchair. “It means a lot to families and to parents when you can go out and do things that every family does,” says Randy.
The special accessible boardwalk and viewing tower at Burnaby Lake Regional Park, built with support of the Pacific Parklands Foundation, means that people like Randy’s daughter can get beyond the car park and explore the forest, the lakeside and more.
